Broken Hill has received $5050 through the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal ABC Heywire competition to hold a local event celebrating diversity.
A submission by the YMCA Young Leaders supported by Broken Hill City Council was successful in the competition's "Let's Embrace Diversity" category.
A colour run and community gathering will be held on Harmony Day (21 March) in 2021, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
YMCA Young Leaders representative, Campbell Quintrell, said it was pleasing to see the group's hard work pay off.
"Winning this grant shows our commitment and dedication to making Broken Hill's future better for youth," he said.
Council's Community Development Officer, Dionne Devlin, said the win was a great result for the city's young leaders.
"We were one of only 24 entries selected for funding, and I think that speaks to the quality of the submission organised by the Young Leaders," said Ms Devlin.
"The event itself will take shape as Harmony Day draws closer, but for now we're just thrilled to have been selected."
