Help to get online for the 2020 Bayside Seniors Festival
Bayside City Council 17 Sep 2020

Need support to get up to speed with Zoom, What’s App and Facetime so you can experience all of the fabulous online events and activities for the Bayside Seniors Festival?

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the festival in its 17th year, will be coming live to you throughout October with a program full of especially curated online content using technology.

The festival aims to acknowledge and celebrate older residents and the valuable contribution you make to Bayside. Experience online performances, guest speakers, health and wellbeing sessions, tours, story-telling and more throughout October.

If you are unfamiliar with technology such as Zoom, What’s App and Facetime, free training sessions can give you the know-how and confidence to get online and participate. We’ll make it easy.

The Bayside Seniors Festival program will be available online and in hard copy from 22 September. For a printed copy, contact Healthy Ageing on healthyageing [at] bayside.vic.gov.au or call 9599 4373.

These sessions will help you learn how to access online technologies so you can participate in the Seniors Festival and access other online content:

Zoom is an online video communication program which will enable you to take part in virtual events and activities. Facetime is an application (known as an “app”) that is available across Apple devices such as iPad or iPhone and is used to make free video and audio calling. WhatsApp is an app available on all devices that is also used to send messages, audio and video.

These technologies are also terrific ways to connect with family and friends especially during COVID-19 restrictions and beyond.

If you are new to any of the above we welcome you to participate in a free virtual training sessions.

All training sessions will be run by Jo Lambie from Stay in Touch who has over 11 years’ experience in getting seniors digitally connected.

All you will need is a device that is connected to the internet.  Jo and her team will get you connected and guide you all the way.

Please register for one training session only to allow as many residents as possible to participate.
