After the huge success of the last Jamie's Ministry of Food Online program, The Good Foundation, in collaboration with The CHANGE Project, will host a second five-week online program for Toowoomba Region residents this October.

Toowoomba Regional Council Portfolio Leader for Environment and Community Services, Cr Tim McMahon said it was delightful that residents had another bite at the fruitful fresh food course this Spring.

"Over five sessions participants will learn to make key recipes that cover every meal; from breakfast and sides to lunch and dinner," Cr McMahon said.

"The program is open for absolutely anyone who wants to be involved. It is ideal for beginners and intermediate cooks, but even experienced cooks come away with new skills, techniques and knowledge.

"Taught by professional food trainers via a live interactive video chat, participants will learn knife skills and techniques to make it simpler and quicker to cook delicious meals on a budget.

"Participants will learn how to bring the best flavours out of fresh ingredients and how-to meal plan on a budget, so your food goes further.

"The course follows the following themes:

Session 1 - Alternate Breakfasts Session 2 - Pasta Master – Carbonara Session 3 - Mexican Fiesta Session 4 - Crowd Pleaser – Pizza Session 5 - Saucing Around - Teriyaki

"The course is open to absolutely everyone 12 years or older.

"The program will commence on Tuesday 6 October from 6.00pm to 7.00pm and run for five weeks.

"If you cannot attend during this time, you can contact the team at The Good Foundation to arrange a makeup class.

"The cost of the program is $49.95 for five sessions. Toowoomba Regional Council is also offering it through Council's CHANGE Project, to ** eligible groups for $5.00 per person for the five-week course.

"Bookings are essential, and registrations are now open until Monday 5 October 2020."

Cr McMahon said previous programs booked-out within a week of being advertised, and positive feedback was received from the program.

"Seventy percent of participants felt that the course increased their confidence in cooking basic meals from scratch," Cr McMahon said.

“Some of the testimonials we have received included:

“Course was amazing. I can’t wait until I can do course 2.”

“Thank you for teaching me how to cook things I didn’t know about.”

“I found this course really fun and the food was enjoyable to cook. Everything that I was taught tasted really yummy. The online cooking instructor/chef was always very friendly and gave clear instructions that were easy to follow. Thanks for teaching me!”

Cr McMahon said Council's award-winning CHANGE Project has a host of low-cost programs that offer simple tips promoting healthy cooking, eating and exercise regimes.

“The Good Foundation is a regular CHANGE project provider that has a focus on healthy eating,” Cr McMahon said.
