Capella asked to limit water use during treatment plant works

Central Highlands Regional Council asks Capella residents to limit urban treated water use for two three day periods from 29 to 31 September and 13 to 15 October 2020.
The water treatment plant will operate at half capacity within these dates due to maintenance work and, to ensure uninterrupted water supply, council asks residents to limit the use of urban treated water as much as possible.
The maintenance involves replacing two water filters that provide safe drinking water to the town. The council’s contractor plans to replace one filter at a time so that the plant can continue to operate.
Acting General Manager Infrastructure and Utilities Jason Hoolihan said the council was relying on peoples’ cooperation to successfully carry out the works.
‘It is one of those infrequent maintenance works that we cannot carry out without it affecting residents,’ Mr Hoolihan said.
‘So we ask that people in Capella use urban treated water only for essential use for these few days, so we do not run the risk of not being able to supply enough water.’
