Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre (VIBC) reopened today following the recent shift to Third Step COVID-19 restrictions.
The VIBC is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm weekends and public holidays.
While the Centre will provide its usual information and booking services, there will still be several COVID-19 measures in place to ensure the safety of both the community and Council staff. These include:
the customer service desk area will be accessible to customers, however the rest of the centre will remain roped off. Gift Shop items will still be displayed behind the barrier and available for sale with staff assistance customers are asked to utilise Tap and Go payments wherever possible customers will be required to provide their name, address and phone number for contact tracing purposes there will be limits on how many people can be inside the centre at any one time customers will be required to wear face masks and adhere to social distancing and density requirements at all times. There will also be additional touch-point cleaning to protect customers.
Councillor for Tourism and Economic Development Mark Eckel said the return to face-to-face service at the VIBC was a positive step for the region’s tourism operators.
“The tourism and hospitality sectors have been severely impacted by COVID-19 restrictions this year, and any progress towards supporting these sectors is welcome,” Cr Eckel said.
“Opening facilities such as our Visitor Information and Booking Centre will allow us to support these businesses, helping them capitalise as much as possible on the recent relaxing of restrictions and the ability for visitors to return to our region.”
He said Council was also continuing to work with restaurant and café operators to explore options that would allow them additional outdoor dining opportunities.
It follows the requirement to mainly service patrons outdoors outlined in the Third Step of the Victorian Government’s roadmap to reopening.
