To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 23 September ordinary meeting.
Community participation timeFrom the commencement of the election period on 22 September until Council resumes for the new term, there will be limited community participation time at Council Meetings as specified in the Governance Rules(PDF, 412KB). This includes Questions on Notice and Public Submissions.
With CEO approval, questions on notice may be responded to in writing and published in the minutes. Petitions will be managed in accordance with the Governance Rules and the Local Government Act 2020.
Thriving economy Council noted the achievements made over the last 12 months as part of the delivery of the Economic Development Strategy 2018-2021. Council noted the initial investigation into the feasibility of setting up a Revolving Sustainability Fund, and endorsed officers to further analyse options for the Revolving Sustainability Fund, identify a preferred model and report the findings to Council. Organisational excellence Council exercised the powers conferred by section 147 (4) of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, section 224 of the Local Government Act 1989 and section 313 of the Local Government Act 2020, and resolved; The members of Council staff referred to in the instrument be appointed and authorised as set out in the instrument and; The instrument comes into force immediately the common seal of Council is affixed to the instrument, and remains in force until Council determines to vary or revoke it and; In accordance with Council's Governance Rules, the instrument be signed and sealed. Council adopted the revised Baw Baw Shire Council Procurement Policy 2020. General business motionCouncil raised a general business motion requesting officers prepare a report on planning application PLA0012/20 (Princes Highway, Yarragon) to be tabled at the 14 October Council meeting.
Condolence motionCouncil acknowledged the passing of a Council contractor and well known community member who will be dearly missed.
What's next?The next Council meeting will be from 5.30pm on Wednesday 14 October at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
As of 11.59pm on Wednesday 5 August 2020, Council meetings are no longer open to members of the public due to COVID-19 restrictions in regional Victoria. Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing.
The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
