Some coronavirus restrictions are lifting but there’s still plenty to keep you connected and entertained if you’re staying at home.
Whether you’re on school holidays, staying in for health reasons, or just want to ease back into socializing, Corangamite Shire Council has pulled together a long list of resources to bring the world to you.
From learning a new language to enjoying live stand-up comedy or becoming a Guinness World Record holder, there’s a wealth of options at Connect Across Corangamite page on Council’s website.
Council has even enlisted some familiar faces to help keep people entertained and active.
Kids can dance about to live Ed Gym classes, work out with Joe the Body Coach or make and mail a colourful hug to someone they love. Performers can join in a virtual Couch Choir, take up a weekly Song Challenge or simply enjoy live streamed performances from Cobden’s own Luke Bourchier every Friday night.
Fashionistas can learn how to redesign and upstyle their wardrobes from some of the state’s best textile artists. Budding cooks can pick up tips from Corangamite’s own culinary gurus.
“Keeping strong social connections is really important for our mental health. Talking to family, friends and work colleagues through phone, email and social media, and sharing group experiences reminds us that we belong,” Council Acting Chief Executive Officer Brooke Love said.
“By taking some simple steps we can keep connected and help support each other in our community.
“Staying connected also helps our community groups to remain active and puts them on the front-foot to kick-start their long-awaited activities and events once social distancing restrictions relax.”

There is also a host of mental health and well-being resources available to help ease the way through the COVID-19 journey.
