Residents are reminded of changed conditions this weekend associated with the IRONMAN Cairns Asia Pacific Championship event on Sunday 27 September.
There are a number of changes this year, notably a major modification to the bike course, with the turnaround point now just south of Trezise Road, instead of in Port Douglas near the Wildlife Habitat.
This change will allow the Captain Cook Highway to be opened earlier this year, from 3.30pm on Sunday.
Smithfield Transfer Station closed Sunday
Smithfield Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday 27 September due to changed traffic conditions for IRONMAN Cairns.
The Transfer station will re-open on Monday 28 September for normal operating hours.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
