Easy Grants Provide Timely Support to Local Community Groups

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is pleased to announce the first community-based organisations to receive funding under its Easy Grants initiative. The grants of up to $2,000 are aimed at supporting the delivery of projects and events that foster community resilience, connection and wellbeing and will remain open for the duration of 2020-21 or until all funds have been allocated.

The successful applicants to date include Margaret River Organic Garden for the purchase of signage and a dishwasher ($2,000), Intercultural Action Group for intercultural cooking workshops ($2,000), Lions Club of Cowaramup for murals in the community garden ($1,420) and Margaret River Underwater Hockey Club Inc for replacement of their underwater hockey goals ($1,000).

Coordinator Community Planning & Development Jason Cleary congratulated the recipients and encouraged more eligible local organisations to apply. “Easy Grants are proving to be a brilliant way for local not-for-profit organisations to secure a much-needed funding boost in what has proven to be a challenging year,” he said.

“If you’re part of a community based, volunteer and not-for-profit organisation who could use some extra funding, it’s definitely worth taking a look at the criteria as your organisation could benefit.”

Easy Grants provide assistance of up to $2,000 and remain open for the duration of 2020-21 or until all funds have been allocated. Priorities in funding allocations include the purchase of equipment up to $1,000, professional development for volunteers, minor events or activations that encourage participation or connection and neighbourhood projects or events.
