Greenspot Wallerawang Industrial Park Offers Economic Development Growth Opportunities for Lithgow

Lithgow Council has welcomed the announcement of the purchase of the old Wallerawang Power Station Site and the plans of the new owners to re-develop the site.

The purchase of the former Wallerawang Power Station signaled a defining moment in the industrial future of Lithgow with Energy Australia passing over the keys of the site to its new owner, Greenspot

The site is set to undergo a transformation with Greenspot’s business goal of turning the 450-hectare site into an industrial park that will incorporate manufacturing and food production businesses.

Greenspot is a joint venture between the owners of two NSW businesses, Borg and Bettergrow. Lithgow’s proximity to Sydney, existing infrastructure and current trends in manufacturing were offered by Greenspot as a combination of factors that provided an ideal location for this new business venture.

Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson said today “This investment offers a clear insight into what the future Lithgow economy will look like in the years ahead, one that is underpinned by new and emerging industry sectors that open up the next generation of jobs”.

Mayor Thompson added, “Council is committed to working with Greenspot in its development of this industrial precinct. This is a significant investment in our local economy and it shows confidence in Lithgow’s future.  We thank Greenspot for demonstrating this confidence in our city.”

The next two and a half years will see initial demolition and rehabilitation underway as the first phases of the business venture, with around 60 new jobs expected. Beyond that, Greenspot will move into attracting a variety of businesses for the industrial park.
