Councillor Ray Thompson has been re-elected as Mayor and Councillor Wayne McAndrew as Deputy Mayor at last night’s Ordinary Meeting of Council, Monday 28 September 2020.
Councillor Ray Thompson returns as Mayor for another year until the next election in September 2021.
Mayor Thompson said “My focus in the year ahead will be on jobs – more of them and a broader range. You only need look at the proposed re-purposing of the former Wallerawang Power Station for an example of what can be. This site, when fully developed offers amazing job opportunities.”
“I will also be pushing for the upgrade of the Great Western Highway from Lithgow to Katoomba as an absolute priority. Our economy needs to be linked to Western Sydney and this road upgrade has never been more necessary.”
“I would like to thank Councillor Ring for his hard work and dedication to the role of Deputy Mayor over the past twelve months” said Councillor Thompson.
The Mayor went on to thank his fellow Councillors for re-electing him into the position for another year and welcomed Councillor Wayne McAndrew back into the role of Deputy Mayor.
“I appreciate this opportunity to continue to represent our City and play a role in guiding its future. I’m honored to be elected Mayor and very proud to be given the opportunity to serve our community in its highest form.” said Mayor Thompson.
