Shoppers will be rewarded for parking smarter in Fremantle with up to a year’s free parking up for grabs.
As part of a campaign to get more people using the City's PayStay parking app, people who download the app and use it to park at any off-street carpark between 1–23 October will receive free parking throughout November when they opt in at fremantle.wa.gov.au/freeparking.
In addition, filling out a simple survey on the City’s website will also put PayStay users in the running to win one of five permits for free parking for a year.
The ‘Parking Smartz’ campaign will be promoted across Perth radio stations as well as via social media to further encourage locals and visitors to be out and about in Fremantle this spring.
Deputy Mayor Andrew Sullivan said the Parking Smartz initiative was part of the City’s COVID-19 Community Recovery efforts and included in the plan adopted by Council last month.
“We want to see as many people as possible in Fremantle and the fine spring weather, fantastic shopping and hospitality and entertainment offerings – and now free parking – are all great reasons to be here,” Cr Sullivan said.
“With the Festival of Footy this weekend featuring Sunday’s WAFL grand final, the Superhero Secret Mission Trail running over the school holidays and a host of special offers and deals being offered by businesses, now is the perfect time to come to Freo.”
The five winners of the ‘Win free parking for a year’ prize will be drawn from participants in the survey. The survey asks participants about their current parking habits in and around Fremantle.
While parking is an important source of revenue for the City and helps to provide services and facilities for the community, the City is continuing to deliver initiatives like this as part of its COVID-19 Community Recovery Plan to make it easier for residents and visitors to shop in Fremantle businesses.
The PayStay parking app enables users to find and pay for parking via their mobile phone, and only pay for how long they stay, making it easier and cheaper to park in Fremantle.
The app includes a map of all the City’s on-street and off-street parking including information regarding each car park’s capacity, the parking rate and time limits.
The free parking is valid in City of Fremantle off-street car parks only and terms and conditions apply. More information can be found at fremantle.wa.gov.au/freeparking.
