Make a difference with a Proactive Community Grant

Published on 05 October 2020

Do you have a project or initiative that could make a real difference to the community?

You could be eligible for a City of Swan grant valued between $5,000 and $25,000.

Today the City is opening a $50,000 grant pool under its fifth annual Proactive Community Grants round.

The grant program supports projects or initiatives that align with the City’s strategic focus areas, community health and wellbeing, homelessness, community safety and sustainable environment.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the program continues to make a positive impact, with $190,000 awarded to community groups since it was established five years ago.

"The City’s Proactive Community Grants program is about giving not-for-profit groups a boost to deliver projects that make a real difference to the community,” he said.

“This year, we have introduced the new focus area of homelessness to support initiatives that provide direct services to help some of our most vulnerable people.

“That’s what our proactive grants are all about – giving help where help is needed.”

Whiteman Ward Councillor Mel Congerton said that often the best ideas are the ones that come from our most passionate community members.

“I look forward to seeing what inspiring projects are being envisaged to benefit our people and the environment,” he said.

The Proactive Community Grants program is part of the City's Swan Community Funding Scheme (SCFS), which aims to build sustainable local communities and enhance the social wellbeing and development of our communities.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are open from October 5 to November 6, 2020 and eligible organisations are encouraged to apply. For more information, you can review the grant guidelines and make an application at www.swan.wa.gov.au/proactivegrants
