Live and Local Gympie Region is back and our community can once again enjoy free, quality live music, with the first event scheduled for Saturday, 17 October at Nelson Reserve.
While COVID restrictions were in place earlier this year, Gympie’s successful Live and Local music sessions, that were previously being held at the Gympie Civic Centre, had to move online where they were enjoyed by people from both inside and outside the region.
But as restrictions ease, Council has been exploring how it can once again deliver the popular Live and Local events and will offer a series of events that will be held at different locations throughout the region.
Arts and Culture portfolio holder, Councillor Dan Stewart, said he is happy to see the program move from the online space.
“While the online events were successful, we are keen to get back out there amongst our community and bring some joy into spaces all throughout our region,” said Cr Stewart.
The program brings some of the best local and Queensland-based artists to the region over a series of events.
The first event will be held from 2pm on Saturday, 17 October at Nelson Reserve Gympie.
It will present the award winning, six-piece French inspired ensemble, MZAZA, with their intense live show. It will also include special performances from the Aspy Jones Band and emerging artist, Ashy Pel.
Further events are soon to be announced and will encompass a wide range of genres and performances.
A COVID Safe plan will be in place to ensure our patrons are safe.
These events are supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
