Proposed draft Dog Control Regulations 2020The Government has released for consultation the draft Dog Control Regulations 2020 (the draft Regulations).
The draft Regulations remake the Dog Control Regulations 2010 (the Regulations) ahead of their scheduled expiry on 9 June 2021.
The Regulations include the prescribed details for microchips, the requirements for dangerous dog enclosures, and the offences under the Dog Control Act 2000 for which infringement notices may be issued (and the associated penalties).
It is proposed that most provisions in the Regulations are remade without change. This is except for minor changes to the infringement notices, which are necessary following the 2019 changes to the Dog Control Act.
A copy of the draft amended Dog Control Regulations is available for you to view and download.
The Information Sheet and Draft Dog Control Regulations 2020 provides a more detailed overview of the proposed changes, which will assist in understanding the scope of what is being proposed.
Full details can be found on the Department of Premier and Cabinet Website.
All submissions must be received by close of business on 16 November 2020.
