WaterNSW have advised Council that there has been a break in their pipeline that supplies water to the rural villages. Water supply in the areas of Portland, Wallerawang, Lidsdale, Cullen Bullen, Glen Davis and Rydal may be affected whilst emergency works are undertaken on the Fish River Water Supply pipeline in Sodwalls.
The emergency alert is due to a water main break at Sodwalls and due to ongoing repairs on the Fish River Water Supply at Wallerawang. Council is therefore unable to provide bulk water supply to Portland, Wallerawang, Lidsdale, Cullen Bullen, Glen Davis and Rydal. Residents in these areas are asked to conserve water during the next three days until the necessary repairs have been made. Residents may experience reduced water pressure or no water. Council will endeavor to keep residents informed through the period of the repair.
Upon return of normal service, residents may experience dirty water for a period. WaterNSW and Council will endeavour to minimise this by flushing the mains. Before using the water for domestic purposes, residents are advised to run the first tap that services their property to ensure the water is clean and any dirt released into the system has been flushed before running internal taps. If you continue to experience issues of dirty water, please contact Council.
