Council is asking all residents in the areas of Portland, Wallerawang, Lidsdale, Cullen Bullen, Glen Davis and Rydal to continue to conserve water due to the WaterNSW water main break reported Tuesday 13 October.
Residents in these areas are urged to limit usage to necessary water use and conserve water until further notice. Please do not utilise water for washing cars, watering lawns and gardens, limit shower times, only wash clothes and dishes as necessary. Please do not fill tanks, baths etc as this is placing additional demand on the system and depletes water in storage reservoirs.
Council wishes to re-enforce that there is sufficient water to maintain a safe supply and if residents are water wise Council and WaterNSW will not need to implement emergency measures. Should these measures need to be taken to provide a supply of water, the water provided will be untreated water and may not be fit for human consumption. Should this occur residents will be required to boil water for an extended period, therefore we are asking residents to conserve water so these measures are not required to be implemented.
Council and WaterNSW wishes to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Council on (02) 6354 9999 or email [email protected] or if you are a customer of WaterNSW please contact WaterNSW on 1300 662 077 or email [email protected]
