14 October, 2020

Lithgow City Council encourages community recognition of local individuals and organisations for outstanding contributions to the Lithgow LGA.

“Our community has shined this year. All the challenges we’ve faced throughout 2020 have highlighted the generosity, dedication, and care we have for one another within our community,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Ray Thompson. “The Citizenship Awards are an opportunity to celebrate our resilient spirit, and I urge everyone to nominate someone or an organisation deserving of recognition.”

The NSW Local Citizenship Award categories are:

Volunteer of the Year Award (Young Citizen and Open Citizen) Citizen Achievement Award (Young Citizen and Open Citizen) Service to the Community Award (Organisation) Outstanding Event Award

The Volunteer of the Year Award is for people who have given their time freely to help the community within the Lithgow LGA. The Citizen Achievement Award is for those who have excelled in their chosen field which may include academia, business, the arts and sciences or community service. The Young Citizen Category is for people between the ages of 16 and 26, while the Open Category is for all ages over 26 years. The Service to the Community Award (Organisation) is for organisations which aim to enrich the lives of the people in the Lithgow area.  This organisation does not have to be a volunteer organisation.  The Outstanding Event Award recognises the significant contribution that special events make to our region.
