Greg Cruickshank Aquatic Centre, maintenance works update #4, Moranbah

Isaac Regional Council would like to provide the following update on the multiple infrastructure replacements and maintenance on the 25m heated pool and children’s water park at Greg Cruickshank Aquatic Centre, Moranbah. Visit here for more information on operating hours.

25M HEATED POOL The anticipated date for the re-opening of the pool is 30 October 2020. The pool chemical levels are still being normalised and deep cleaning at the 25m heated pool is continuing. The heat exchanger is due to arrive this month as COVID-19 restrictions affect equipment delivery delays. The exchanger’s delivery will not affect the re-opening of the heated pool due to the upcoming summer season.

CHILDREN’S WATER PARK At this time, the park remains closed indefinitely due to safety concerns. The soft fall surface has cracked due to extended periods of inactivity during the pool closure – attempts to repair the surface have failed and significant work will be required to bring the surface back to the WHS standards required. Council recently went to tender for a number of minor repairs and replacements of existing equipment and of the five contractors approached, none responded. Council is continuing to make every effort possible to find a resolution.

Council thanks the community for their patience and apologises for any current and ongoing inconvenience experienced.

At all times, please remember to adhere to all Queensland Health directives. For more information phone Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).
