Interruption to Service – Flowmeter Installation at Portland High level and Low Reservoirs

15 October, 2020

As part of Council’s water metering and reservoir upgrade projects, Council will be undertaking flowmeter installations at Portland reservoirs on the 15th and 16th of October 2020.

Council has engaged a local contractor to undertake the installation of new flowmeters at the reservoirs, commencing 15th and 16th of October 2020. This will be undertaken as a part of Council’s rollout of smart metering to better capture the water requirements and usage throughout the network. The metering project will allow Council to capture the usage from each service reservoir and better account for usage and losses in the systems across the LGA.

The Portland High level reservoir that services properties between the Ridge Street area and the Western side of Cullen Street/Portland Wallerawang Road, and between Falnash and Bell Street will be closed off for a short period on the 15th of October 2020 to allow for the installation.

Portland Low level reservoir that services properties between the Humphrey Street area and the Eastern side of Cullen Street/Portland Wallerawang Road, Lawson Street and Drumkeen Lane will be closed off for a short period on the 16th of October 2020 to allow for the installation.

Residents may currently be affected by the WaterNSW Fish River main break. Council has expedited the flowmeter installation works to be completed whilst repairs are being undertaken on the Fish River water main to minimise the overall disruption to residents.

Updates on the progress of the WaterNSW Fish River break will be provided on Council’s website at www.council.lithgow.com and the WaterNSW website.
