Bega Valley Shire Council is conducting three COVIDSafe community consultation sessions next week for the residents of Wandella and surrounds to share their thoughts and ideas on the rebuild of their hall, which was destroyed in the summer bushfires.

“We are fortunate to have prominent architect, Tim Lee from the Australian Institute of Architects to facilitate these sessions,” Infrastructure and Services Manager, Jason Heffernan said.

“Mr Lee recently participated in Council’s successful Pathway Home workshops in Cobargo and Eden, providing advice and valued expertise to bushfire affected residents thinking of rebuilding their homes.

“This time he will guide us towards developing a fit-for-purpose, multifunctional hall that will once again be the focal point of community life.

“Discussions will also ensure that we can pay homage to the past, but also look to the future.”

Earlier this year, the Wandella Hall site saw temporary restoration to the toilet facilities and work has begun on the barbecue area.

“Community halls are much loved and used centres for people living in the rural areas of the Bega Valley,” Mr Heffernan said.

“As the central point in any community, these halls enjoy a rich cultural life that takes in a range of artistic, social, sporting and educational interests.”

Location: Cobargo School of Arts Hall

Session 1 - Wednesday 21 October from 3:30pm-5:30pm.

Session 2 - Thursday 22 October from 1pm to 4pm.

If you are unable to attend one of the community sessions, but wish to express your ideas, visit Council’s website and Have Your Say.
