Steers reach 506c at Blackall...

Blackall Combined Agents yarded 1461 head of cattle for the prime and store sale on October 22. The yarding was dominated by Brahman cattle and was of mixed quality. Prime markets remained strong with all usual processors in attendance. Store cattle received strong competition from a large panel of buyers.

The cattle for this week's sale were drawn from Blackall, Tambo, Barcaldine, Jericho, Longreach, Aramac, Winton, Hughenden and surrounds.

Bulls over 450kg made 318.2c, average 289.2c.

Cows 300-400kg sold to 259.2c, average 251.5c, cows 400-500kg made 336.2c, average 307.2c, and cows over 500kg reached 336.2c, to average 323.1c.

Heifers under 220kg made 484.2c, average 407.5c, heifers 220-280kg sold to 454.2c, averaging 335.1c, heifers 280-350kg reached 400c, average 325.2c, heifers 350-450kg made 358.2c, average 343.7c, and heifers over 450kg sold to 354.2c, averaging 346.7c.

Steers under 220kg sold to 506.2c, average 488.1c, steers 220-280kg sold to 506.2c, averaging 453.4c, steers 280-350kg made 506.2c, average 372.7c, steers 350-400kg reached 418.2c, average 366.4c, steers 400-550kg made 386.2c, average 362.2c, and steers over 550kg sold to 356.2c, average 356.2c.

Mickeys made to 314.2c, to average 305.5c.

Tony and Taj Jones, Prairie Downs, Blackall, sold a very good run of Brahman and Simbrah feeder cattle, with the feeder steers selling to 386.2c weighing 421kg to return $1628.48 and the heifers selling to 355c weighing 440kg to return $1562.

St Elmo Pastoral Group, Antrim, Hughenden, sold heavy Brahman cross cows to top at 291.2c weighing 493.8kg to return $1437.80. Corfield Downs Pastoral, Corfield Downs, Corfield, sold a run of Brahman cross cows selling to a top of 255c weighing 328kg to return $836.40.

GJ and MG Schultz, Inveresk, Muttaburra, sold Brahman steers to a top of 398.2c weighing 325kg to return $1294.15. Peter Hall, Rosevale, Julia Creek, sold a run of Brahman and Brahman cross heifers. The heavy heifers sold to 346.2c weighing 306kg to return $1061.92 with the lighter heifers selling to a top of 364.2c weighing 218kg to return $794.24.

M and T Neilson, Two Rivers,Boulia, sold quality cows topping at 319.2c to average 315.4c weighing 530kg to return $1671. D and K Neilson, Two Rivers,Boulia, sold a quality line of PTIC Brahman cows topping at 336.2c weighing 507kg and averaging 336.2c at 482kg to return $1600.

The Neilson family also sold an exceptional run of 293 Brahman and Charolais cross weaned steers topping at 506.2c weighing up to 261kg to average 477.2c weighing 225kg to return $1074. J and K Neilson, Two Rivers,Boulia, sold Charolais cross weaned steers topping at 506.2c weighing up to 270kg to average 486.6c weighing 240kg to return $1169.

JE and JL Creevey, Lucknow, Augathella, sold quality Charolais cross steers topping at 506.2c to average 462.7c to weigh 278kg to return $1286. Their heifers topped at 454.2c to weigh 227kg to return $1034.

Wendy Schekoske, Blackall, sold quality Santa cross heifers to average 478.2c to weigh 265kg to return $1267.23. D and H McLean, Texas, Jericho, sold Brahman heifers for 361.2c averaging 183.3kg returning $662.20/hd.

JL and LI Davison, Helen Downs, Julia Creek, sold Angus cross steers for 433.2c averaging 269.4kg returning $1167.23/hd. MC and LV Dickson, Ballyneety, Aramac, sold Angus cross steers for 474.2c averaging 236.4kg returning $1120.84/hd.

Springdale Land and Catlle Co, Springdale, Aramac, sold Droughtmaster cross steers for 479.2c averaging 260kg returning $1245.92/hd. Clarenden Cattle Co, Clarenden, Blackall, sold Brahman cows for 310.2c at 517kg to return $1604/hd.

BF Birchley and RC Birchley, Gartmore, Tambo, sold Bradford bullocks to a top of 356.2c at 695kg to return $2475/hd. SW and AM Moller, Star of Hope, Clermont, sold Droughtmaster cows for 318.2c weighing 537kg to return $1708/hd. Carolyn M Volker, Aramac, sold Droughtmaster cows for a top price of 318.2c weighing 625kg to return $1988/hd.
