Families with children are encouraged to join in a range of fun and free educational activities and online events during this year’s Children’s Week, between 24 October to 1 November.
Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children. The week is also an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the enormous contribution children make to our city.
Children’s Week in Maroondah is all about reconnecting with nature, and what simpler way than by stepping outside your front door and into the fresh air.
Maroondah’s parks and playgrounds can provide hours of inspiration for outdoor child-friendly activities that are fun, educational, and that will keep them moving!
Help your children get active while playing to their sense of adventure by taking part in the My Maroondah treasure hunt. Each day during Children’s Week, children and their families will be encouraged to explore their favourite places in Maroondah and answer the daily clue posted on Council’s Facebook page. You can even take a photo and share it with us to celebrate Children’s Week.
From teddy bears in windows and chalk drawings on footpaths, ‘spoonvilles’ have also been dishing up cheerful dollops of community spirit and fun to the streets of Maroondah. When out on your walk, be on the lookout for your favourite bear, drawing or spoonville, snap a photo and share it with us!
Maroondah is also filled with interesting and delightful art attractions - perfect for unleashing the imagination and appreciating some of our beautiful outdoor spaces. View Maroondah’s public artworks to find one that’s close to you. Or perhaps you can create a piece of art at home and share it with us?
