Bluewater to reopen to the public

Published on 27 October 2020

It’s time to get back in the gym, join your favourite fitness class, swim laps and feel the benefits of hydrotherapy – we’re excited and we know you will be too!

Colac’s Bluewater gymnasium and swimming pool will reopen to the public tomorrow, Wednesday October 26, following the easing of State Government COVID19 restrictions for Regional Victoria.

Bluewater Manager Dale Barrow said there would be limited hours, particularly this week, and bookings would be required to ensure the restricted capacity is managed across the gym and pool.

“We had been getting ready for the pool to reopen to Colac Secondary School, learn-to-swim classes and limited hydrotherapy following last week’s announcements that pools could open to under 18s and hydrotherapy with small numbers,” Mr Barrow said.

"The State Government's announcement on Sunday will mean that the gym can open as well and the pool can open to people of all ages, with limited numbers.

"This is fantastic news for the community and we know from previous experience that we can manage our facility and State Government restrictions to keep our community safe through physical distancing and hygiene.

“During the first closure we took the opportunity to revamp the gym, with a range of new equipment and a new sound system.

“Tomorrow, we’ll be opening with a new, user-friendly booking system with a members portal, so we will be starting fresh with memberships and that’s where we need everyone to get online re-register their details before they book.

“We are offering discounted memberships while restrictions limit gym opening hours and a convenient direct debit service, with a range of packages to suit families or singles.

“Sessions in the pool will initially be restricted to 75 minutes, the gym will be restricted initially to one hour and we don’t want you to lose any time signing up when you arrive,” he said.

“Online at https://bluewater.perfectgym.com.au/clientportal2/#/ForgotPassword is the easiest way to join but new or registering members can also visit the centre or give us a call to find out about memberships if they don’t have internet access.”

Patrons who enter the facility will need to scan the QR code, enter their details upon entry and exiting, in line with State Government requirements.

Change rooms, toilets and showers will be open across the facility for use with strict social distancing enforced in these areas.

Patrons can only use showers and change rooms during their booked session times to allow for staff to clean these areas in between sessions.

Gym users will be required to bring a towel and they must wipe down equipment with sanitising wipes provided, before and after use. Users may be denied entry if they do not follow these strict hygiene practices which are in place to keep all of our users as safe as possible.

Limited bookings for the gymnasium and pool usage can be made from TODAY, Tuesday 27 October (during business hours) – initially through to Sunday 1 November.

Bookings will then open Friday 30 October for the week starting Monday 2 November.

Ongoing, bookings will be open on Fridays for the following week.

Gym sessions can be booked for an hour to accommodate the limited capacity of 10 per space, in line with restrictions.

Bluewater looks forward to further easing of restrictions to allow extended operations as soon as possible
