Call out to artists to create a festive vibe in towns Macedon Ranges Shire Council is seeking roving street performers and chalk artists to submit expressions of interest to activate our towns during the lead-up to Christmas.
Suitable experienced chalk artists will work alongside local businesses, bringing colourful inspirational messages, and images on shop windows and pavements.
Roving performers are asked to create experiences that engage locals, and activate public spaces— responding creatively to living in the Macedon Ranges, and celebrating the festive season locally.
Angela Hughes, Director Planning and Environment said the project aims to create colour, movement and a festive vibe in our towns during the lead-up to Christmas.
“We’re looking for artists who can engage the community in unique and inspiring creative experiences,” she said.
This initiative will provide Christmas shoppers in the Macedon Ranges some help getting into the festive spirit as they encounter a range of creative installations, activities and performers, with support from Council’s COVID Recovery budget. It will also support the ‘Go Local First’ campaign, which encourages support and reinvigoration of the local economy, as we work towards recovery and a new COVID normal.
This is an opportunity for artists to demonstrate how creative initiatives activate businesses, support jobs and stimulate local tourism during COVID recovery.
Expressions of interest opened on Monday 26 October and close on Sunday 8 November.
