Council has been recognised for its collaborative approach in the development of the Reimagining Campbelltown City Centre Master Plan winning the Place-Based Collaboration Award at the 2020 Greater Sydney Planning Awards.

The award recognises the collaborative approaches taken in developing the evidence-based master plan which aims to unlock the potential of the Campbelltown City Centre.

Mayor George Brticevic said the master plan was developed in consultation with a range of stakeholders, including residents, small businesses, government organisations and private industry.

“Reimagining Campbelltown harnesses the passion, knowledge and aspirations of our community, industry, stakeholders and government agencies to shape the future of the city,” Cr Brticevic said.

“This award is an acknowledgement of the work of Council staff and all those people who provided their knowledge and feedback in developing Reimagining,” he said.

The judging panel said the master plan is a timely and bold reimagining of Campbelltown’s city centre.

“This Plan will help drive Campbelltown’s ongoing transformation into an important urban centre within the Western Parkland City where significant changes are occurring, and new potential is being realised,” the panel said.

“The deep and meaningful stakeholder consultation has been exceptional.  It focussed not only on the needs of the community but is also framed to provide a strong foundation for future implementation.

“The future of the Western Parkland City is brighter because of this outstanding work.”
