Regional business boost 2 Nov 2020 11:58 AM -

Business owners looking to expand or relocate operations to regional NSW can now access grants under the NSW Government’s new Regional Job Creation Fund.

The $100 million program will provide businesses with the money they need to fast track expansion plans, create new opportunities and jobs, and attract new customers.

NSW Minister for Regional NSW, Industry and Trade Mr John Barilaro said the new funding initiative is designed to support regional businesses growth.

“Regional NSW offers all the essential ingredients for businesses to thrive – competitive land prices and operating costs, a ready supply of skilled labour, world-class infrastructure, excellent digital connectivity, efficient transport linkages, and financial and practical support from Government,” he said. “It is already home to thriving agribusiness, energy and resources industries and strong manufacturing, tourism and service sectors, and there is already a ‘well-worn path’ of investors experiencing the benefits of doing business in regional NSW.”

The Regional Job Creation Fund will provide co-funding for projects that create and retain regional jobs, including those that:

·         Replace, upgrade or adapt existing plant or equipment, including technology or energy efficiency upgrades;

·         Enable existing regional NSW businesses to establish an additional production line;

·         Relocate a business from interstate or internationally to regional NSW, or onshore an activity currently being undertaken overseas to regional NSW; or

·         Develop new tourism experiences and attractions to create new demand in a region.
