This year we celebrate NAIDOC Week 2020 with a series of events throughout the City of Swan. We hope you can join us to celebrate our rich Indigenous culture and history. 

Beechboro NAIDOC celebration

Join us for a Welcome to Country, tucker and refreshments and heaps more family friendly activities including traditional Aboriginal dancers and artists. This event is delivered by Meerilinga and supported by City of Swan.

Midland NAIDOC

Head down to LoCale for live music, live painting, healthy food options, family showbags and free takeaway tucker! This event is presented by Indigo Junction and supported by City of Swan.

Tuesday, November 10 11am – 2pm The outdoor area at the corner of Cale Street and the Crescent, Midland

Ellenbrook NAIDOC

Join us for a variety of cultural activities for the whole family including breakfast, Welcome to Country, countdown seeds, friendship bracelet making, a colouring in competition and story time. This event is presented by Mission Australia and supported by Midlas, Midland Women’s Health Care Place, Ellenbrook Arts and the City of Swan.

Wednesday, November 11 7 – 11am Ellenbrook Community Library

Play and learn in the park

Young children and families are invited to a fun morning with a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony, indigenous tucker, refreshments, Aboriginal games, reading books, fun play and learning activities. This event is delivered in partnership between the City of Swan, Meerilinga, CLAN Midland and members of the Bullsbrook Early Years Network.

Wednesday, November 11 10am – 12pm Pickett Park, Bullsbrook

Cultural awareness session

We welcome local residents and community organisations to join us for an informative evening learning about Aboriginal heritage, seasons, animals, language, local significant sites, stories of past times and much more. This event is delivered by the City of Swan.

Ballajura NAIDOC

Join us for a Welcome to Country, tucker and refreshments and heaps more family friendly activities. This event is delivered by Meerilinga and supported by Whitelion and City of Swan.

Community movie night and activities

Have an evening out in Bullsbrook with activities, refreshments, entertainment, painting, a skateboarding workshop and Aboriginal games. Plus you can watch the movie, Bran Nue Day, for free! This event is delivered in partnership between the City of Swan, Meerilinga, and local community groups.

Friday, November 13 5pm onwards (movie starts at 7.15pm) Bullsbrook Library and Ethel Warren Bullsbrook Community Centre

PLUS you can check out the new Splash of Colour mural, which has been installed at the old pump station next to Guildford Road Bridge on Bridge St, Guildford. The mural, created by Noongar artists Rod Garlett and Nathan Corunna, in partnership with community artists and the local Noongar community, celebrates the cultural significance of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River). This Water Corporation project was delivered by Community Arts Network and supported by the City of Swan.
