Winning Truck Art Design On The Road

The winner of the 2020 Truck Art Competition run in collaboration with Moree Plains Shire Council and Cleanaway is Annie from Garah Public School.

Annie created an impressive piece of artwork reflecting this year’s theme, ‘be green, keep your recycling clean’ and was able to unveil her design to her whole school with the newly decorated Cleanaway truck stopping by for a visit.

Moree Plains Shire Council’s Waste Manager, Victoria Dawson, was blown away by the number of entries received from school children across the Shire, the depth of recycling knowledge and artistic talent they bought to the competition.

“Choosing a winner was very difficult, every entry had a unique way of expressing the competition theme, using intricate and thoughtful designs and vibrant colours.

“In the end, we decided on Annie’s artwork as the gorgeous design clearly articulated how to recycle right and what items can and cannot go into the yellow lid bin.

“It was great to hold the event at Garah Public School today to see Annie’s reaction and her artwork featured on the Cleanaway truck. The truck will service the Shire’s kerbside collection so the whole Moree Plains Shire community will have a chance to enjoy Annie’s artwork on one of their collection days”, said Ms Dawson.

In addition to having the winning design featured on a local council waste collection truck, Annie was also awarded a $150 Love Local Gift Card. The competition runner up was Annabelle from St Philomena’s who received a $50 Love Local Gift Card.
