Toowoomba artist Maree Cameron is preparing to unveil a new body of work, Creative Interpretation, which will be on display at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery from Saturday, November 7 to Sunday, December 6, 2020.
The exhibition marks Cameron’s 26th solo exhibition and includes a collection of pastels, watercolours and acrylics that are inspired by her experiences of growing up in rural Queensland.
The artist said her passion for art was like breathing and she maintained an enduring hunger for knowledge.
“I believe that art is a gift and a challenge. As an artist, I feel compelled to give something back to other people, so they too can experience that special sense of achievement and creative satisfaction that I enjoy,” she said.
The work focusses on her love of the country, wildlife and the special moments she has shared with both.
Maree Cameron grew up in Charleville before moving to Toowoomba in 2015.
She has won numerous prizes, judged competitions and been involved in several rural art groups.
She lives and creates her works in the Toowoomba Region and has been a practising artist for more than 40 years.
