The Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) invites young people to groove and skate until sunset at its Drug Aware MR SAMM 2020 event, to be held at the Margaret River Skatepark this month.

The event will kick off at 3pm on Saturday 21 November and will run until 7.30pm. An impressive line-up of live music will entertain young people from 3pm until 6pm, including headline act Ghost Care, support band In Between Spleens, local youth bands and a silent disco. There will be plenty of good music to take in while hitting the skate ramps or checking out the other activities.

The Soggy Bones Skate Jam will run from 6pm until 7:30pm and local art workshops, chill out space and mindfulness activities will be running all afternoon and into the evening, with food from Deli Collective and a sausage sizzle.

Community Development Trainee Hope Sortras said the event was put together by young people, for young people and makes the most of the popular Margaret River Youth Precinct.

“MR SAMM 2020 is coming off the back of last year’s hugely successful event and we’re sure this event is just going to get even bigger and better,” she said.

“We have an awesome line-up of music this year and the chance to show off some of your skating tricks and skills at the Margaret River Skatepark”.

“Come along and get involved in whatever way you like. Whether you want to enjoy having a skate to some tunes or if you’d rather check it out from the sidelines, there’s something for everyone.”

MR SAMM 2020 is a drug and alcohol-free event for all ages and interests, organised by young people in the community. The event is proudly supported by the Augusta Margaret River Local Drug Action Group, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and the Margaret River Youth Advisory Council (YAC).

The accessible and inclusive event will be held at the Margaret River Youth Precinct, 31 Wallcliffe Road, Margaret River.
