Kids go to the wall with green-themed calendar

With some sound advice for shoppers, Eurobodalla’s kids have made it easy to plan ahead with their 2021 Eurobodalla Environmental Calendar.

For over two decades, fourth grade students from the shire’s primary schools have created artistic and positive messages on an environmental theme, with the best selected for an annual wall calendar. Eurobodalla Council’s natural resources supervisor Heidi Thomson said this year students were reminding us to “think before you buy”.

“The kids know each and every one of us can make a difference,” Ms Thomson said.

“They’ve painted and drawn some great calendar images that bring to mind different ways we can cut down on waste when we shop. For example, buy products without multiple layers of soft-plastic packaging. Or, let manufacturers know you don’t like everything wrapped in so much plastic.

“I love how the students tell it like it is, with images saying ‘do something right for once, buy nude food!’ and ‘the only solution is you’.”

Printed on 100 per cent recycled paper and available free from the shire’s libraries, in the foyer of the Council administration building in Moruya, the Batemans Bay depot, Narooma and Batemans Bay visitor centres and the Mogo Book Store, Ms Thomson said the calendars “make a great addition to home and office walls, and beyond”.
