The Northern Beaches is set to be the place to be for bikers of all ages and skill levels.
Council is seeking community feedback on a proposed site at Wyatt Avenue, Belrose specifically designed to enhance junior bike skills and build confidence.
The proposed site includes a junior bike trail loop, an informal grassed open space for practising skills, a seating/picnic area, an accessible entry path loop and other landscape elements.
Other improvements to the area include widening of footpaths and using landscape barriers on the road to increase pedestrian safety. Once the feedback is reviewed Council will use it to inform a Plan of Management for the site that will be prepared shortly.
This area will complement Bare Creek bike park in Belrose, the one-of-a-kind mountain biking facility expected to open later this year.
The combination of these two projects, as well at the existing facility at JJ Melbourne Hills in nearby Terrey Hills, will allow bike riders of all ages and skill levels to have a place where they can safely practice and develop their skills.
Bare Creek has a cumulative 1.6km of gravity tracks to host mountain bike riders of all experience levels. Less experienced riders can grow their skills on the pump track and skills areas before working through a progression zone and eventually onto the advanced gravity tracks.
We are seeking feedback from the community on the new facilities at Wyatt Reserve. Make a submission and Have Your Say page before Monday 9 November.
