Draft landscape plan for Sawpit Creek Open Space Reserve

A draft landscape plan for Sawpit Creek Open Space Reserve featuring an extension to the Kath Knowles pathway and providing connections to proposed and existing pathway networks within future subdivisions is now on display.

Sawpit Creek Open Space Reserve runs north to south between Ophir Road and the Mitchell Highway adjacent to the suburbs of Llanarth and Windradyne.

Mayor Bobby Bourke said the plan details a proposal to provide pedestrian links and new park and recreation facilities, whilst enhancing and protecting our natural vegetation corridors.

“The design includes designated spaces for passive and active use, with park seating, shelters, formal playgrounds, nature pathways and native vegetation plantings for our community to enjoy Sawpit Creek, he said.

“Additionally, the proposed planting scheme will enhance the existing streetscape interfaces and contribute to the rehabilitation of the Sawpit Creek riparian corridor, and critically endangered Box-Gum Grassy Woodland ecological community.”

The proposed plan includes a designated open space area that features a central irrigated grass recreation area, picnic facilities including shelters and seating, and playground equipment.

The draft plan and associated documents are on display on the YourSay Bathurst website and the community is invited to comment and provide feedback at yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au or via written submission to The General Manager, Bathurst Regional Council, 158 Russell Street or PMB 17 Bathurst, NSW 2795.

Feedback will close on Friday 4 December 2020 at 4.00pm.
