Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will begin a controlled burn program on Tuesday 10 November (weather permitting).

TRC Environment and Community Services portfolio Leader Cr Tim McMahon said the program was a joint training burn exercise with the Queensland Rural Fire Service (QRFS) in the Crows Nest district.

“We have now entered bushfire season so it’s important we are well prepared for whatever conditions may come our way,” he said.

“To help us prepare for this, we’ll be conducting a cool, controlled burn at Aphrah Street in Crows Nest (Rear of Railway Terrace), for the reduction of fuel loads and feral animal harbourage and invasive weeds.

“Council will conduct the burn on Tuesday 10 November with the assistance of both Queensland Fire and Emergency Service and the Queensland Rural Fires Service.

“Adjoining landholders will be notified of the proposed burn that will take place.”
