Kane Alexander has performed all over the world, collected numerous awards and recorded with Sony BMG Music.
His latest show Swinging On A Star showcases the best songs from the Frank Sinatra and golden Rat Pack era. Featuring hits also made famous by Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Sammy Davis Jr, Kane breathes a vitality into this music, with fresh interpretations of well-loved songs including My Funny Valentine, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and The Best Is Yet To Come.
Kane grew up in country Victoria, where he was raised on an isolated farm in the Victoria wheat-belt. At age six, he discovered a box of old records belonging to his grandparents in an old shed. This included artists such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Slim Dusty. One of the records was by Mario Lanza which he states triggered his lifelong love for operatic and classical singing.
Today, he is considered best known for his lead musical roles which he has performed on the Australian stage, including as ‘Willard’ in Footloose, ‘Billy Crocker’ in Anything Goes and as ‘Scarecrow’ in The Wizard of Oz. He also appeared in the 10th anniversary production of Les Miserables, among numerous others.
Winner of the Best Newcomer Award at the New York Cabaret Festival, Kane Alexander has performed his show internationally to great acclaim, and now brings his Swinging On A Star performance to the Karralyka stage for viewers at home.
