Baw Baw Shire Council is inviting community members to share their ideas to help to shape two playground upgrades.
Memorial Park in Longwarry and Howard Park in Yarragon have both been selected as part of Council’s 2020/21 Budget process for upgrade works.
The playground upgrade project will be delivered in three stages, with the first stage focused on finding out what the community would like to see included in the designs.
Based on the feedback received from the first stage, Council will present three potential designs for each site to the community for further consideration.
Once a final design has been selected, the works will begin in early to mid-2021.
Both projects have an overall budget of $75,000 each, which is part of Council’s $32.2 million budget for infrastructure works in the current financial year.
Interested community members are also encouraged to provide feedback on the draft concept design for the new fenced dog park at Dowton Park in Yarragon. The $177,000 project will be fully funded through the Victorian Government’s Building Works package, which is providing $2.7 billion towards projects across the state.
Consultation is open now until Sunday 6 December. For more information and to provide feedback visit www.bawbawshire.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay
Quotes attributable to Director Community Infrastructure Cohen Van der Velde
“Both of these popular playgrounds need a refresh and we’d like to know what the community would like to see included in the final designs. Whether you live in Yarragon or Longwarry or regularly visit either playground, this is a great opportunity to tell us what kind of equipment and layout would work best.”
