Another new playground for Bangalow

Published on 11 November 2020

Bangalow children will soon have another new playground to test with work starting this week on updating the old playground at the village weir.

Council will retain the existing swing set and spring toy but there will also be some fancy additions designed to encourage social, creative and physical play.

A tower-type structure will be built including nets, bridges and play panels as well as a musical feature.

A carousel with seats, the modern take on a merry-go-round, will be installed along with a new swing that has a bird’s nest that can be used by adults and children at the same time.

Key to this $75,000 project is ensuring the playground meets accessible play guidelines for children of all abilities.

The old playground has served the community well but has reached the end of its usable life and for safety and maintenance reasons needs to be replaced.

The dismantling of the old playground and the installation of new equipment is expected to be finished in early December.
