Council is encouraging community members to have their say on a proposal for a new low impact telecommunications facility in Woodend.
Planning approval from Council is not required for the mobile telecommunications base station which Telstra proposes to install at 61 High Street, Woodend.
Aurecon, which represents Telstra, says the purpose of the facility is to improve mobile service to its customers in the Woodend area and to meet the increased demand placed on the network.
Under the Telecommunications Act 1997 planning approval is not required from Council as the proposal is identified as low impact telecommunication facility.
Aurecon’s community consultation period will start on 16 November and run until 14 December.
