Have Your Say on Future Community and Cultural Facilities

The Draft Community and Cultural Facilities Plan 2021-2031 – a strategy to guide Council’s delivery of community and cultural facilities across the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area (LGA) over the next 10 years – will be on exhibition for public feedback from Monday, 16 November, until Monday, 14 December.

“Our LGA has a diverse range of community and cultural facilities, from libraries, art galleries and community centres, to rural halls, museums and an indoor theatre venue,” said Sian Nivison, Council’s Group Leader Community and Cultural Services.

“The Draft Plan seeks to provide members of the community with access to a range of quality facilities for community gathering, with suitable spaces to deliver services, programs and activities that contribute to a connected and culturally vibrant regional city.”

Over the next 10 years, the Coffs Harbour Region is projected to grow by around 15,000 residents by 2031. Including community and cultural facility planning must be part of planning for the growth and development of Coffs Harbour as a Regional City.

The Draft Plan was developed during 2019-2020 through a review of existing strategic documents, a broad review of current community and cultural facility assets, an analysis of the population and its composition, community consultation and input from community facility users and managers.

The Draft Plan outlines the priority projects that respond to community need and population growth and identifies opportunities to help develop a range of other spaces for community, cultural and creative uses.
