Mildura Rural City Council is already getting a picture of residents' thoughts and ideas on how work on our region's transport network should be prioritised at the half-way mark of a community survey.
The survey asks residents for their views on how future maintenance and renewal works should be prioritised on the 5000 kilometres of transport network Council is responsible for.
So far, the strong message from residents is that the safety of roads and footpaths should be among Council's priorities, followed by their overall quality and suitability.
While roads and footpaths represent a significant proportion of Council's transport network, there are many more aspects that residents use or see every day, including shared paths, roadside drainage and associated amenities.
The survey is open until Tuesday 24 November and can be accessed by visiting Council's Have Your Say page at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay
Council's General Manager Development Mandy Whelan encouraged residents to take part in the survey.
"Our roads, paths and roadside drainage are some of our region's most used and important pieces of infrastructure - they allow us to get to work, visit friends and family, or simply get to where we need to be every day," Ms Whelan said.
"However, until something needs repairs or renewal, or disrupts us going about our daily life, many of us take for granted that our roads, paths and other infrastructure will always be there for us to use.
"By finding out what parts of our transport network the community use most and what is important to residents, we can prioritise our maintenance and renewal program to meet these expectations."
