Wyndham Council Youth Services is excited to announce Mirjana Gligorevic as the October recipient of the One Wyndham award.

One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 and 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.

Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘young person of the month’.

Winners are awarded a $200 gift voucher of their choice, a Star Weekly advert and other prizes.

October One Wyndham recipient, Mirjana Gligorevic is a determined individual who advocates for youth in Wyndham and is a dedicated volunteer.

Born in war torn Bosnia with cerebral palsy, Mirjana has faced many barriers in her life.

Standing out for all the wrong reasons, Mirjana was bullied at a young age.

Despite these challenges, Mirjana is an empathetic individual who supports her peers, and encourages everyone, including her male friends to talk openly about their feelings.

Active in her community, Mirjana is the voice for unemployed youth in Wyndham and has volunteered at Vinnies for the past six years.

Mirjana is also about to release a travel inspiration book, encouraging young people to live life to the fullest and follow their dreams.

Director of City Life, Allison Kenwood said the One Wyndham award enables young people to be inspired by the work of their peers.

“The time, dedication and passion of each young person has a positive impact not only on the people around them, but on Wyndham as a whole.” Ms Kenwood said.

“We celebrate the ways young people are engaging in Wyndham life be it through volunteering, advocacy or innovation.”

“We value their contribution in making Wyndham a thriving and supportive place.”
