Free Shuttle Bus Service returns for another summer in Cambridge

The Town of Cambridge has re-launched the free community bus service offering residents and visitors a convenient way to travel around the Town this summer.
The Summer Bus service provides free transport to some of the Town’s iconic destinations including City Beach, Lake Monger and the Wembley Golf Course.
The service will run from 4 December 2020 to 31 January 2021, seven days a week including public holidays (except for Christmas Day), from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
The Summer Bus stops at popular locations such as Floreat Forum/Cambridge Library, Alderbury Sports Reserve, Empire Village, Bold Park Aquatic and Floreat Beach.
This year the service will consist of two 12-seater vans which will run every 30 minutes on a continuous loop around the Town, starting at Cambridge Street, West Leederville, with the final stop of the day at Floreat Forum.
Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said the Summer Bus initiative was a valuable service for residents of all ages to travel to their favourite places in the Town and was pleased to see the service return this summer in its new format.
“The buses will be great for families as the service provides young people with the freedom to visit places like Perry Lakes Skate Park or head to the beach in the school holidays,” she said.
“It also allows our seniors to become more mobile and connected.
“The service also aims to support local businesses by stopping at key retail locations and shopping precincts in the Town.
“We hope the bus service will encourage the community to consider more sustainable methods of transport and also provide more access for residents to explore the wonderful locations available in Cambridge.”
After the summer bus service has concluded on 31 January 2021, the buses will be available for free community hire by local sporting groups, schools, charity organisations and Cambridge Senior Services.
