Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller has congratulated the 31 winners of the 2020 Liverpool City Local Business Awards for their commitment to the city.

“The Liverpool City Local Business Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise our established businesses and the dedication that owners and staff have put in to helping shape our city and its growing economy,” Mayor Waller said.

“Whether they are restaurants serving cuisine from across the globe or clothing stores, salons and real estate agencies, more than 17,500 businesses currently operating in our city are fundamental in establishing Liverpool as an important economic hub.

“I’d like to extend a huge congratulations to our winners and finalists of this year’s Liverpool City Local Business Awards.”

Mayor Waller said that Liverpool City Council continued to do its bit to support businesses and encourage jobs and economic growth.

“As the home of Western Sydney International Airport, the Western Sydney Aerotropolis and the Liverpool Innovation Precinct, we know the investment into our growing city provides numerous opportunities now and into the future,” Mayor Waller said.

“We also recognise that while there's a bright future ahead for Liverpool, Council continues to come up with innovative ways to support local businesses and strengthen the wider community.

“We have introduced a range of support measures since April and are getting on with major projects such as our mixed-use Liverpool Civic Place development and Liverpool City Centre Public Domain Master Plan, both of which will improve amenity and liveability to benefit generations to come.

“I also encourage community members to continue shopping and eating locally, and to remember to practise good hygiene and social distancing when out and about.”

Community members are encouraged to visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/weareopen for a list of local businesses which are open, while businesses should visit www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/covid19business for up-to-date support information.

More than 200 businesses were finalists in the 2020 Liverpool City Local Business Awards, presented in a gala presentation on Monday 16 November. Visit thebusinessawards.com.au/program/19/Liverpool for details.
