Residents are encouraged to have their say on aquatics across the Gannawarra, with all feedback received to assist with the development of the Gannawarra Aquatic Strategy 2021-2031.
Council has engaged sport and leisure planning consultants, Otium Planning Group to develop the strategy, which will deliver a road map for future aquatic services and leisure facility development for the next 10 years.
“Council manages the outdoor pools at Cohuna and Kerang, as well as the Kerang Exercise Pool, with facilities at Koondrook, Leitchville and Quambatook managed by the community,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“As part of the development of the Gannawarra Aquatic Strategy 2021-2031, it is important to determine the community’s needs for future facilities and services, as well as review the facilities, programs, services, performance and condition of public swimming pools across the Gannawarra Shire.”
To assist with this process, residents are encouraged to complete a 16-question survey, available online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/GannawarraAquaticStrategySurvey until Friday, 18 December, which asks how residents currently use aquatic facilities across the municipality and what facilities or features would encourage greater use of these venues in the future.
“Regardless of whether you are a frequent aquatic facilities visitor or not, it is important that you have your say to help shape the future of aquatics within the Gannawarra,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“This survey is one of many ways Otium Planning Group will engage with the community, with key stakeholder interviews and workshops to be undertaken over the next couple of months.”
