Community groups have the opportunity to apply for funding through the latest round of Council’s donations and sponsorship program. Submissions open Wednesday 30 September and will be accepted until November 7.

I encourage all groups hoping to see their projects come to fruition, to seek Council’s support through the assistance of a Council donation or sponsorship.

School holidays are upon us and the Snowy Monaro Regional Library and Cooma Hub have exciting holiday programs on offer to keep our children and young people entertained.

To meet COVID-19 restrictions, the library has taken their holiday program online. Each day throughout the holidays, a video featuring that day’s activity will be posted on the Snowy Monaro Regional Library Facebook page and on Council’s website.

The Cooma Hub is offering a range of indoor and outdoor activities for young people from 12-17 years-old. All events are free and bookings are required. A list of the activities is available on Council’s website or by contacting Council on 1300 345 345.

Feedback for the Snowy Monaro Arts and Culture Discussion Paper has been extended until Sunday 11 October to give our community more time to have their say on the future of the region’s arts and culture sector.

This Discussion Paper generates conversation amongst decision-makers, those who actively participate and engage in the arts, as well as encourage the broader community to better understand and appreciate the contribution arts makes to our society.

There is still time to comment on a draft report outlining the flood risk and flood management plans for a number of towns in our region.

The Flood and Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan presents the behaviour, assessment and future planning considerations to manage flooding risk in Berridale, Bredbo, Cooma and Michelago.

To have your say on the discussion paper and floodplain study, you can write to Council, complete an online survey through Your Say Snowy Monaro or complete a hardcopy survey available at any Council office.

As the snow season draws to a close, I would like to congratulate our business owners, tourism operators and snow resorts for working hard to comply with COVID-19 guidelines.
