There’s never been a better time to get on your bike and explore Wyndham.
With travel restrictions lifted and many residents still working or studying from home, this is a prime opportunity to try out Wyndham’s bike paths and walking trails.
Wyndham City Director of City Design and Liveability, Ludo Campbell-Reid, said there had been a significant uptake in walking and cycling across Wyndham throughout the COVID-19 lockdown.
“Bikes have been flying off the shelves at local bike stores as our residents try and make the most of their daily outdoor exercise,” Mr Campbell-Reid said.
“Whether you’re exercising, commuting or looking for a great leisure experience, Wyndham has some picturesque bike trails and walking paths for you to explore while staying active.”
“Why not try the Werribee River Bike Trail, which winds alongside the Werribee River from Presidents Park in Wyndham Vale to the Princes Freeway in Werribee.”
“Or for bay views, the Wyndham Bay Trail offers a 2.5-kilometre scenic route along the Werribee South Foreshore, ending at Wyndham Harbour.”
“Just remember to practice social distancing and observe COVID-19 restrictions when outdoors.”
Mr Campbell-Reid said Wyndham City was making significant investments in its shared path network to turn walking and cycling into a genuine transport mode of choice for residents going about their daily business, in line with Council’s recently-adopted Active Transport Strategy.
“COVID-19 restrictions have taught us that it’s more important than ever for Wyndham residents to enjoy the outdoors and be able to get to nearby locations without having to jump in their cars,” Mr Campbell-Reid said.
“The Wyndham Active Transport Strategy is a 10-year plan to connect the missing links in our walking and cycling paths that currently make journeys on foot, bike, scooter, wheelchair and the like harder than they need to be.”
