An exciting opportunity exists for a permanent full time Biodiversity Officer to join our award-winning Liveability & Sustainability Department based in Clermont; however, we are flexible with location within Isaac Region for a suitable candidate. Reporting to the Program Leader – Environment & Biodiversity, this position will be responsible for establishing an integrated and comprehensive approach to the protection and management of biodiversity throughout the Isaac community.
For this position, we are looking for a driven, experienced and strategic minded person to assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of strategies, programs and plans to encourage environmentally sustainable practices of Council operations within the community. The successful candidate will have:
Tertiary level qualifications within a natural resource or environmental sciences/management field would be highly regarded; Demonstrated understanding of economic, environmental and legislative issues impacting coastal/natural resources; Proven ability to plan and implement community programs, projects and training, including the ability to develop and maintain business and industry partnerships; Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to consistently achieve goals, work autonomously and prioritise work tasks to achieve program objectives; High-level written and interpersonal skills including advanced negotiation, liaison, mediation skills and public speaking. For this position we offer:
Salary $72,843.44 per annum plus allowances; Nominally 72.5 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday; 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading; RDO’s in accordance with Council policy; 12% super (in accordance with policy).For more details on this position contact the Program Leader – Environment & Biodiversity during business hours.
