600 Stanley Street, Brisbane Monday, November 23 – Monday, December 14, 2020 Adderton Everywhere is a series of innovative and exciting exhibitions, workshops, installations and events in surprising public spaces from Adderton: house & heart of mercy. The exhibition Where the heart is… is supported by Brisbane City Council and runs from October to December 2020.  In 'Where the heart is…' eight people from refugee backgrounds share, through a photographic exhibition, their stories of survival, who they are now, and how they want to be seen. The ‘Where the heart is...’ project provides a space for people from a refugee background - connected to the Queensland program of assistance to survivors of torture and trauma (QPASTT) - to tell their story in their own words and to be seen the way they choose to be seen. 'Where the heart is…' reflects the insight of these different responses to a new culture and a new country with particular challenges and opportunities. Adderton Everywhere will use empty shopfronts for temporary art exhibitions, supported by Council’s Suburban Shopfront Activation program, which encourages the use of vacant shopfronts by emerging businesses.
