Children with a disability and their carers are invited to the Bicycle Education Centre to celebrate International Day of People with Disability on Thursday, 3 December.
A series of five 90-minute sessions will be held throughout the day where children will be able to enjoy free riding sessions on the Bicycle Education Centre course as well as a range of other fun activities.
Other activities on the day include mural painting, storytime and the Shine Shed sensory tent and quiet space.
“This will be an enjoyable day for people with disability and their carers to get outdoors and have a bit of fun at our Bicycle Education Centre,” Mayor George Brticevic said.
“International Day of People with Disability is all about increasing awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability but also it is about celebrating their achievements and considerable contributions to our community,” Cr Brticevic said.
There will also be a wealth of information for parents and carers to collect and they can also schedule a free session with Freedom Wheels to find out about adapting bikes to the individual needs of children.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a maximum number of 30 participants, including carers, can attend each session.
Transport to the Bicycle Education Centre on the day is available through South West Community Transport via bookings.
